What Does This Mean?

When Google reports "Crawled — currently not indexed" in Search Console, it means Googlebot visited the URL, downloaded the content, and then made a deliberate decision not to add it to the search index. The page will not appear in any Google search results.

This is different from "Discovered — currently not indexed" (where Google hasn't even crawled the page yet). With "Crawled — not indexed," Google saw your content and rejected it. That makes the fix harder — you need to convince Google the page has enough value to merit indexing.

How to Fix It

  1. Audit content quality. Ensure every page has at least 300+ words of unique, valuable content. Remove or consolidate thin pages.
  2. Check for duplicates. Use AI Crawler Simulator to compare what crawlers extract from similar pages. Merge near-duplicates with 301 redirects.
  3. Strengthen internal links. Link to the affected pages from your highest-authority pages. Use descriptive anchor text.
  4. Reduce boilerplate. Check your Token Bloat Ratio. If boilerplate exceeds 70% of the page, restructure your templates.
  5. Add unique value. Original data, expert commentary, unique images, or interactive tools all signal information gain.
